The Meteorite project is inspired by historical photographs of the Willamette Meteorite on the Internet, followed by research on the object itself in the Museum of Natural History in NYC.
From the digital images not quite a replica was produced in the Xiamen Bronze Factory in China. In June 2005 the ‘meteorite’ arrived at the harbour in Rotterdam, and was stored in the Museum Boijmans van Beuningen until April 2006.
Later it was placed at the Crooswijk Singel Rotterdam, where it will remain.
Monika Konrad, architect, designed the public place surrounding the object.

The book documents all parts of my research process, including e-mails, archival photographs, production stills, newspaper articles, and drawings.
