Press Statement:
Following a Line is a group exhibition that looks at artists who useresearch as the bases of their artistic practice. Each of the artists inthe exhibition begins in the archives or library, or sorting through datawhether it be statistical or image-based. The works begin as information which is then reconfigured visually for the terms of display in a gallery context. We have noted this as a common mode of artistic practice on a local and international scale. Following a Line attempts to ask why we are seeing so many artists working in this manner and why is there a new interest inthis type of working method. We also use it to ask whether or not this process of making is an effective method of translation and if it is engaging to audiences.
